With the BMC Dental Plan, you can see any licensed dentist you wish. However, seeing a network provider allows you to save on out-of-pocket expenses.
Aetna, BMC’s dental claims administrator, has an extensive network of dentists who accept negotiated or discounted rates. If you use an in-network dentist, you will pay your coinsurance based on a negotiated rate. And your dentist will file your claims for you. If you use an out-of-network dentist, however, there are limits to how much you can be reimbursed.
Keep in mind that most dentists “accept” Aetna insurance. However, only in-network dentists have agreed to accept a negotiated discounted rate that allows you to save on out-of-pocket expenses.
