Just a few changes. BMC will offer the same medical, dental, and vision options for 2013. Medical and dental copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximums will also stay the same. Aetna PPO and HSA plan changes: Prior authorization of high-tech radiology tests (CT and MRIs) will be required in non-emergencies. We are also introducing new medication management changes to the Prescription Drug Program to help manage increasing costs. If you are taking a drug that’s impacted by these changes, you will receive information from Medco/Express Scripts through the mail at your home address starting in mid-November. Higher medical costs. Paycheck costs for medical will go up in 2013. Your costs may not go up if you earned your 2013 wellness discount by completing your health screening and the Well Being Assessment™ earlier this year.
Take advantage of the new Health Savings Account (HSA) limits. If you want to take advantage of the new HSA limits, don't forget to increase your before-tax contribution on the Your Benefits Resources website. The 2013 limits are: $3,250 (individual), $6,450 (family) and $1,000 catch-up contribution if you are age 55 or older. The company will once again contribute to your HSA at the same level as last year.
New Health Care FSA (HCFSA) limits. Employee contributions to both the regular HCFSA (for employees enrolled in the PPO, Kaiser HMO or no plan) and the limited HCFSA will be limited to $2,500 next year. Keep in mind that you can save additional tax-free money by contributing to a flexible spending account. Watch this video to learn more about HSAs versus FSAs.
Better preventive care for women. The new Affordable Care law means that you and your covered dependents won’t share any of the costs (copayments, coinsurances or deductibles) for many covered preventive services, including generic and single-source brand-name birth control and doctor-administered contraceptive devices and sterilization.
New dental care rewards. If you and/or your dependents are enrolled in the BMC Dental Plan and receive any preventive care service (such as check-ups, cleanings, or x-rays) in 2013, BMC will increase your annual benefit maximum by $100 in 2014. If you remain enrolled in BMC dental coverage and continue receiving your preventive care services for the next three years, you'll keep earning the $100 increase in 2015 and 2016.
