What’s Bugging You?

From the August 2016 Benefits eNews

Mosquitos may be the biggest danger you face while enjoying the great outdoors this summer. Protect yourself from serious viruses spread by mosquitos such as Zika and West Nile by using bug repellents and protective clothing. If you’ve been recently bitten by a mosquito and experience any troubling symptoms, see a doctor immediately.

Preventing Bites

  • Be careful using bug repellent with children – read the instructions first.
  • Use a bug spray containing 20% or more of the ingredient DEET.
  • If you also use sunscreen, put it on first, followed by the bug spray.
  • Cover exposed skin with pants, long-sleeved shirts and hats. You can also use DEET spray along with bug repellent-treated clothing (Permethrin).
