Wellness Program Update

BMC will host onsite biometric health screenings at 11 worksites in February and March. A biometric health screening checks blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index and blood sugar — important “numbers” that can identify hidden health issues while there’s still plenty of time to take action.

If you weren’t able  to participate in an onsite health screening, there’s still time to get to know your numbers.

  • At-home screening kit: Order an at-home screening kit only if you didn’t participate in an onsite screening.
  • Physician form. Visit your health care provider’s office with this physician form.

 What’s in it for Me?

  • Save money. In return for submitting your health screening results and completing a Well Being Assessment™ by July 31, 2014, you’ll get a $200 discount on your medical premiums in 2015. You’ll earn another $400 discount if you complete two more wellness program activities. Get the details here. All current BMC employees and spouses/domestic partners enrolled in a BMC Health Plan are eligible for the 2015 incentive.  Spouses/domestic partners who participate in a biometric health screening and complete their Well-Being Assessment can earn a $200 discount toward the $600 maximum family incentive.
  • Save your health. When you complete the Well-Being Assessment you also get a personal “wellness prescription.” This short, easy-to-follow action plan includes:
    • An honest and unbiased review of your health, including steps you can take to improve it.
    • Insight into your physical, emotional and social health and how your lifestyle habits affect your overall well-being.

Good to Know: If you were mid-way through counseling sessions for an issue on December 31, 2013, there’s good news. Your number of visits reset on January 1, 2014, giving you up to six more visits for that issue in 2014. You can continue seeing your provider if he or she is in the Magellan network. To see if your provider is in the Magellan network, visit magellanassist.com or call 1-800-327-1393.
