Tips for a Healthy 2022

Happy New Year! Now is the time to reflect on the last year and celebrate your accomplishments. It is also an excellent time to acknowledge which area(s) of your health and wellness needs improvement. Start with one or two new realistic goals and add additional ones throughout the year. And remember to use all the support and tools available to help you along the way.

Make staying healthy and enjoying work-life balance your first resolutions. You’ll be better equipped to manage uncertainty and any other challenges you might come across in the coming months. Here are some tips to help.

  1. If you haven’t already, register for our voluntary wellness program, bWell, powered by WellRight. You can earn rewards such as gift cards and savings on your BMC medical plan premiums when you participate. Your spouse can participate in the wellness program and use the free coaching services. Spouses cannot, however, earn rewards. As a reminder, there are two required activities, the biometric screening, and health assessment, that you must complete by August 15, 2022, before you can redeem any rewards.   2. We’re kicking off the new year with a company-wide cardio challenge. Plan to participate in the Work Out, Have Fun Challenge, February 7 to March 4. Your spouse or domestic partner can register too.
  3. All BCBSTX medical plan members were issued medical ID cards earlier this month. Protect it like you would a credit card.
  4. If you are enrolled in a BCBSTX medical plan, Health Advocacy Solutions (HAS) is here for you. Health Advocates are available throughout the year to help you and your family with a wide range of health care issues – confidentially and at no cost to you.   5. If you haven’t already, download MyEvive from your favorite app store, or visit myhealth.myevive.com and register. MyEvive makes it easier to find, organize and access your benefits, even your non-BCBSTX benefits. After you register online or on the MyEvive app or online, you’ll receive personalized reminders about what’s most beneficial for you. Reminders could be to take action on your health, finances, and other benefits. It’s all about getting you to the benefits you value with the least amount of effort. Watch this quick video to learn more.
  6. Want to save money on your out-of-pocket health care costs? The Best Match feature of MyEvive can help you find quality care and low prices when you need a medical procedure. Also, when you use a provider Best Match recommends, you receive cash rewards. From the MyEvive app, use the chat feature to reach out to a health advocate or call the number on the back of your BSBSTX medical ID card.
  7. Even if you didn’t change your benefits during annual enrollment, paycheck deductions for benefits might have changed. Review your first January pay stub online through mybmcrewards.com, click on ADP – View Paycheck. Contributions per pay period for medical, dental, and vision coverage are available here.
  8. Did you carry over unused Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA) dollars from 2021? Check your balance on the Your Spending Account (YSA) website. You can carry over up to $550 to 2022 in an HCFSA if enrolled in the PPO or HMO medical plans or $550 in a Limited Use Flexible Spending Account if enrolled in the HSA medical plan. Log on to the YSA website from mybmcrewards.com click on the Your Spending Account tile.
