Take the BMC Benefits Tour

Get started by watching the video, and then take this guided tour of your new BMC benefits.

Stop 1: Benefits Guide Review

Mybmcbenefits-new-hire-page-guide-icon

The rewards for working at BMC include more than a paycheck. They include benefits and programs for your health, for your financial security and for your life outside of work.

Browse the 2019 U.S. Benefits Guide or the 2020 U.S. Benefits Guide to find medical plan comparison charts, how-to information and details about all the great BMC benefits. You’ll discover a lot at this stop.

Save a copy of the 2019 Benefits Summary, Btn-link-download or the 2020 Benefits Summary, Btn-link-download and refer to it when you enroll or need a quick reminder about your BMC benefits.

Medical coverage is the top attraction on the BMC Benefits Tour. You can choose coverage under the BMC PPO or Health Savings Account (HSA) Plan (or an HMO, if you work in California). The HSA Plan, the most popular plan with BMCers, includes a Health Savings Account. You can contribute before-tax dollars to the HSA to help pay for your share of health care expenses now or save it for retirement. BMC also contributes to employees’ HSAs in January and July, up to $1,500 a year depending on your salary and who you cover.

As part of the medical plan you select, you also have prescription drug and mental health/substance abuse benefits. If you enroll in the PPO or HSA Plan, you also have access to telehealth through MDLIVE®, a cost-saving way to receive non-urgent medical care without leaving your home. For more cost-savings tips, see Best Doctors, Healthcare Bluebook and Telehealth in the Benefits Guide.

Your coverage begins on your date of hire. You’ll receive separate medical and prescription drug member ID cards and a spending account card about three weeks after you enroll. The dental and vision plans do not issue member ID cards.

Manage your health and your budget
BMC funds about 80% of the cost of medical coverage and employees pay the rest through paycheck contributions. When you learn to use your health care benefits more effectively, you help make the most of the money we spend and get better care. That’s why your medical coverage includes two resources to help you save money and make informed decisions about your care—Healthcare Bluebook and Best Doctors®. Learn more.

You’ll also save money when you stick with the “in” crowd — in-network providers. Seeing out-of-network providers means you could pay more through a higher deductible, higher coinsurance, and the entire amount that exceeds what’s considered “reasonable and customary” (R&C). Watch the Medical Plan Basics video to learn more.

Coverage when you travel
You are covered by your medical plan and more when you travel, giving you protection and peace of mind for your trip. Before your next trip, visit the BMC Business Travel Hub at mybmcbta.com, your one-stop source for information about benefits that protect you when you travel. Watch the video to learn more.
