Life looks a little different this year as we adapt to new ways of working and living. Your BMC benefits adjust too. Although not much is changing with your benefits this year, your family and health status may have changed. Now it’s time to start considering your Annual Enrollment decisions.

Annual Enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to review your benefit options for the coming year. During Annual Enrollment, you can decide to keep the coverage you currently have or make changes. You might want to switch to another medical plan option, add a dependent to your coverage, or enroll in other optional benefits. Take a few moments to review your information and consider your choices. Here’s an overview of what’s new and changing in 2021.

Welcome Compuware employees

Welcome to BMC! As part of the Compuware acquisition, there are certain things you need to know about your new BMC benefits and your transition to BMC. Most importantly, you must enroll for or decline coverage for yourself or your eligible dependents during Annual Enrollment. If you don’t actively choose your 2021 benefits before November 13, your 2021 benefits will be limited. Learn more.

We’ve created a dedicated website for you with all of the information you need to successfully onboard to BMC.

  1. Health Plans

    Medical

How much you pay for coverage. Employee contributions will increase for all medical plan options in 2021 to keep pace with growing health care costs. BMC will continue to pay an average of 80% of employees’ medical premiums.

Per paycheck contributions* HSA Plan PPO Plan Kaiser HMO
    You $40.17 $136.67 $73.94
    You + Spouse $151.05 $354.17 $211.52
    You + Child(ren) $105.44 $266.14 $145.82
    You + Family $205.40 $517.40 $308.65

*Per paycheck contributions are 24 times per year. You will pay less per pay period if you earned a medical premium discount by participating in the 2019-2020 bWell program.

You will pay between $100 and $600 less for medical coverage in 2021 if you earned bWell rewards by August 31, 2020, and chose medical premium discounts. The Enroll in Your Benefits page on MyBMC Rewards will show the discounts you have earned.

Which myth is keeping you stuck in the PPO? If you think you aren't healthy enough to switch to the HSA plan or it's too hard to use, come see whether we can smash the myths.

Is this the year you join the 80%?

About 80% of BMC employees choose the HSA Medical Plan for medical coverage. If you are enrolled in the PPO Medical Plan, check out MythSmashers, where we put HSA Plan myths to the test. We also explain how the HSA Plan works and compare these two comprehensive BCBSTX national plans.

    HSA Plan Changes

    Increased HSA contribution limits.

The IRS has increased contribution limits for Health Savings Accounts. In 2021, you’ll be allowed to contribute $3,600 for individual coverage (up from $3,550) or $7,200 for family coverage (up from $7,100). The catch-up contribution limit for those who are 55 or better remains $1,000.

  2. HSA Matching Program Begins January 1, 2021

Starting January 1, 2021, BMC will introduce Health Savings Account (HSA) matching. Your annual base salary determines how the HSA matching program works for you.

If your annual base salary is more than $75,000, you must contribute to your HSA to receive BMC matching contributions.

If your annual base salary is $75,000 or less, BMC will contribute an Employer Flat Seed to your HSA with $200 in January and $200 in July. You can also contribute to your HSA and receive BMC matching contributions. You will not receive an Employer Flat Seed if your annual base salary is more than $75,000, and you must contribute to your HSA to receive BMC matching contributions for your account.

BMC will match what you contribute to your HSA up to the amounts shown here. Company matching contributions will be deposited in your account each pay period, rather than twice a year in January and July.

If your base salary is $75,000 or less If your base salary is more than $75,000
Employee-Only Coverage Other Coverage Levels Employee-Only Coverage Other Coverage Levels
BMC Flat Seed $200 in January and July for a total of $400 $0 $0
BMC matches your contributions (dollar-for-dollar) Up to $350 Up to $1,100 Up to $500 Up to $1,000
BMC will match your HSA contributions each pay period in 2021
Your contribution limit Up to $2,850 Up to $5,700 Up to $3,100 Up to $6,200
    Total 2021 contribution allowed by the IRS (yours and BMC’s) $3,600 $7,200 $3,600 $7,200
If you are age 55 or better at any time during 2021, you can contribute an additional $1,000 to your HSA.

The BMC Health Savings Account (HSA) is only available to employees enrolled in the BCBS HSA medical plan option. The HSA helps you pay for the cost of care for you and your eligible tax dependents not paid by insurance.

Money in this account belongs to you and is separate from your medical plan coverage. It’s like a “401(k) for health care” that you can use for eligible medical, dental, and vision expenses. You can save this money for the future, invest it in a money market sweep account or mutual funds, or take it all with you when you retire or leave the company. The money you put aside will be deducted before taxes are taken out, so you keep more of what you earn. Also, the money will never be taxed when used for eligible expenses. Watch this quick video to learn more.

You choose how much you want to set aside from each paycheck, and you can change it any time during the year. Changes to your HSA contributions will go into effect the first of the following month. To change your contributions, see the step-by-step instructions on the U.S. Benefits Guide.

BMC will match HSA contributions, dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,000 if your annual base salary is more than $75,000, and you cover dependents. These examples show your pay period HSA contributions when you contribute $1,000 to receive the full BMC match or contribute $2,000 to your HSA.

Employee Annual Contribution Pay Period Contributions
      Employee BMC
    Example 1: $1,000 $41.67 $41.67
    Example 2: $2,000 $83.33 $41.67

  5. If You Don’t Enroll by November 13

Even if you are happy with your current coverage, we encourage you to review your enrollment elections each year.

If you don’t take action during Annual Enrollment, your 2020 BMC benefit coverage will continue with higher paycheck contributions for medical coverage. Remember, you must enroll if you want to change your coverage, add or remove dependents, or contribute to a Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account.

    Compuware employees must take action

If you are part of the Compuware acquisition, you are required to enroll for all plans, including medical. If you don’t take action during Annual Enrollment, you will only be covered by these BMC benefits on January 1, 2021:

    • Basic Life Insurance
    • Short-Term Disability
    • Basic Long-Term Disability
    • Business Travel Accident
    • Employee Assistance Program
  6. How to Enroll

Complete these steps between November 2 through November 13 to get the coverage that’s right for you and your family.

    • The easiest way to access your benefits and enroll is through MyBMC Rewards. Log on to MyBMCRewards.com and click on the Annual Enrollment tile on the main page.
    • Once you’re on the MyBMC Rewards website, you’ll be guided through simple steps that will help you make the right decisions for you. Use online tools, like the Medical Plan Comparison tool, to help you understand your medical plan options.
    • Review the name, date of birth, and Social Security Number of any dependent(s) you may cover.
    • Review any life insurance beneficiary or beneficiaries you have listed.
    • Review your benefits decisions and paycheck contributions to be sure they reflect your choices.
    • Click the Complete Enrollment button to submit your benefit elections. Save a copy of your Confirmation of Enrollment after you complete your enrollment. If MyBMC Rewards has your valid email address on file (under Your Profile), you'll receive an email confirmation of your elections.
    • After Annual Enrollment, you’ll receive a confirmation statement in the mail. Check it carefully!
    • If you find any mistakes, call Your Benefits Resources at 877-262-4849 immediately to correct any errors before December 28, 2020, you won’t be able to change your elections for 2021 unless you have a qualifying event, like marriage, a new baby, or divorce.

If you leave the enrollment website before submitting all of your elections, your benefit choices will not be saved. Look for the “Your Enrollment is Confirmed” page with a confirmation number for your transaction to signal that your enrollment is complete. Print this page for your records.

If You Are Adding a New Dependent

You must verify your dependent’s eligibility for benefits when you add a new dependent to your BMC medical coverage for 2021. Your Benefits Resources will send you a verification request notice and package to your home address. Follow the instructions in the package and respond with the necessary documentation by the deadline. Complete and return the requested documents by the deadline provided, or your dependents will be ineligible for coverage and removed from BMC benefits
